Let me introduce myself! My name is Dr. Kunz. I'm extremely excited to return to Sunset Ridge this coming school year. Here is a little about myself. I moved to Arizona from Cincinnati, Ohio back in 2006. I have been involved with music since elementary school, participating in band, choir, marching band, orchestras, and private oboe and piano lessons. My degrees include: a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from University of South Carolina, a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance from Arizona State University.
I was a featured performer at the Midwest Clinic in 2006 with the Lakota West High School Symphonic Winds, of which I am an alum. I also was a featured soloist with the Southwestern Ohio Symphonic Band in 2006. In 2008, I moved to Great Falls, Montana and was the Interim Principal Oboe with the Great Falls Symphony Orchestra and Chinook Winds Quintet, as well as Associate Principal Oboe of the Helena Symphony in Helena, Montana. This is my fourth year in the Deer Valley Unified School District. I am proudly on staff with the Boulder Creek High School Marching Band (Go Jags!!). I also have a private oboe studio that is continually growing!
Outside of the classroom, I am quite the animal lover. Currently I have 4 dogs, 1 cat, and a bird (parrot)! My three mini-dachshunds are constant entertainment and company! I love traveling, though I'll admit a small fear of flying. The furthest from home I've been is Spain. My favorite place to travel, so far, is Hawaii (I've been to the Big Island and Kauai). One of my favorite things is a good cup of coffee! Hopefully the slideshow below will help you get to know me better!
